Pros

You will likely have a job for life if that is what you are looking for. There is a significant mix of contractors that work with full time staff and you get to meet some bright individuals. The pace is not very intense. The benfits package including the paid time off is very good.

Cons

Utilities are a slow paced industry with little inovation. The raises are typically small and the bonuses are not very impressive. Excellence and people that strive for excellence are rarely found in this industry. And if you happen to be one of these people the compensation guidelines are too rigid to recognize you. Way too much emphasis placed on years of service.

Pros

Standard methods, cloud infrastructure, and reliance on in house staff over contractors makes it very easy to implement safe, fast, consistent changes. You will be valued as a human and you will have a voice within this company. You can make a career here. Your coworkers and immediate leadership are all talented and intelligent individuals who actually know how to do the same work you are doing.

Cons

AI rollout and unevenly applied hybrid work made things difficult for employees with disabilities and those that lived far from office who had traditionally worked remote or for tasks that do not lend themselves well to AI overhead
