Some departments have a "us vs them" mentality amongst the various methods. Upper management likes to hire unskilled workers at the entry level so they can pay them far below industry standard and keep exploiting them for higher profits. The HR team is in place solely to back the company even in disputes where they were in the wrong.

Employees are great. It can be a very fun place to work. Some managers very much encourage team building activities.

It used to be just a great a family owned business. However since they have sold off chunks of the company to another company and separating things up the family feel of employee appreciation is gone. Now it just seems more about money than anything.
