Pros
Work life balance is great, you’re able to go to a doctors appointment, pick your children up from child care, attend a family event, etc. and have no repercussion as long as you’re vocal to your manager and let them know what your availability will be like. Also, most people are incredibly smart and have a solution to most problems. If not, you’re given lots of opportunities to figure them out as a team.
Cons
While there appears to be an inclusive environment, it’s quite cliquey. The people that have been there for years stick together and those that haven’t are welcomed incrementally. If you’re new, you have to assimilate with the culture immediately and hope you Make a good impression. They had someone in HR working there, that was a black woman that was pretty amazing at bringing people together and making them feel included. They were let go for reasons undetermined. Ultimately, they were replaced by a white male. The company has great work life balance and is trying to be innovative within their niche, but seems like their diverse community is ingenious and not a priority. There are statements of having employee resource groups available, but that is not really apparent unless there are all white-cis women involved. I wish there were more ways I could get involved and make the work environment more inclusive.
