Pros

Opportunity to publish writing, some great coworkers, close to public transit.

Cons

Working at Woden left me disoriented and burnt out. Its two found partners are borderline abusive and manipulative. They thrive on giving a small, underpaid team unreasonably large amounts work that often demands nights/weekends and then encourage members to "take time off," as if employees are the problem and not the structure of the company itself. There is a hefty amount of gaslighting and it was not uncommon for coworkers to sob in the office because of this. It is also true that one of the founding partners raises his voice and slams doors when upset. If you're thinking about working here, please save yourself the time and energy. The company maintains a facade of innovative marketing through its website, office aesthetic, and alleged mission, but working there is anything but rewarding.

Like a lot of young companies, Woden struggled with growing pains and managing these changes weren’t easy for us at first: it led to a lot of turnover, processes and products that left employees unsure and unsupported, and a lot of frustration that boiled over in unproductive ways. I'm sorry for this person’s experience. Over the past year, Woden has invested primarily in one thing: its team and culture. There’s been no turnover on the team since January 2018, and most importantly, that investment has paid off with the focus and results that eluded us for a long time prior. We’re proud of the changes we’ve made and the team we’ve become — and that looks much different than in the past. All our employees emails/social are published on their wodenworks.com site bio. Potential team members who have concerns about what it’s really like are welcome, and encouraged, to reach out to anyone they would like directly.

Pros

The growth here is unlike anything I've experienced before. You can feel yourself improving week over week. Feedback is consistent, thoughtful, and genuinely comes from a place of care rather than criticism. The culture is a real standout: my coworkers are talented, collaborative, and everyone is genuinely aligned around the same goal.

Cons

The pace is fast and the bar is high. Which is honestly one of the things I love most about it. If you come in ready to work hard, you'll thrive.

Pros

None. They have an abusive founder, low pay, and impossible workloads for a mediocre product. Staff turnover is tremendous - almost no one lasts a year. Then they hire new college grads. It's a factory.

Cons

Everything here is a con.

We appreciate your feedback. And you're right: this does accurately reflect our past hiring processes. We're happy to report Woden hasn't had any turnover in a year (since this posting in August 2025) and have invested in major updates to our processes, employee persona, and our company's cultural structures and systems. For example, we haven't hired new college grads since 2023. These changes, I hope, can be seen in both our current team and the transformation we're creating for our clients. Again, we appreciate your feedback and are sorry you had a negative experience.
