Pros

One of the most incredibly wonderful and unique teams I have ever worked with. In my time with the company I developed close-knit bonds with several co-workers. Ability to work fully remotely. Laptop for work purposes was provided. Abundance and appreciation events for the staff each quarter were actually fun ways to bond with coworkers and get to catch up, though eventually these went away.

Cons

I will preface my cons by saying that everything below is based on my personal, independent experiences at the company. In my opinion, when you work closely with Todd, it’s a constant uphill battle. Todd does not keep track of things, expecting that everyone else has kept detailed records. Even if you have developed a net to keep track of such things it will be in vain. Todd’s work is heavily affected by his emotional state. If he’s in a good mood and things are going well, you’ll be fine. If something is off either personally or professionally, it’s going to be a rough couple of days. Once, when I got coverage for responsibilities of mine over a weekend when I had a conflict and that person dropped the ball, I was berated for a week straight by Todd and other members of the executive team. I was not given the opportunity to explain that something was not my fault, just told about how I didn’t care about the role, the business, or Todd. One of my employee reviews referenced this event and that I handled it “maturely,” despite it being one of the most humiliating workplace hiccups I have ever gone through. Todd is trying to do too much all the time and though you’ll often hear that the team will be cutting back down to the basics, it very likely won't happen. Often times other employees would tell me they were glad that I existed as a “human shield” between them and Todd, or refer to me as the best wrangler of him, etc. because I took the brunt of his daily attention. I and other employees were often repeatedly told not to use common phrases such as “to be honest”/”to tell you the truth” as Todd saw them as deceptive. He’d suggest buying a bell to ring every time you said it until you learned not to. The job I was hired for and which was detailed in my job description on my offer letter did not end up being the same. I took on several other tasks outside of my job description. Vacation and sick time are accrued based on the amount of hourly time you work instead of being granted after 90-day or another time marker. This isn’t the end of the world, but most other jobs in media I’ve held granted you the time once you passed a milestone. It definitely caused some stress for me when scheduling a vacation or considering taking sick leave. I spent some time in the ER while on a work trip for the company and was asked to still tune in to a proposal meeting when I was released.
