Pros

Many of the faculty and staff are as good as it gets. Most professors truly care for their students and their success.

Cons

VERY TOP HEAVY MANAGEMENT. Lack of culture. Like with much of the Charlotte area, what culture was there is quickly being wiped out for the next wave of replacements. Actively trying new things and calling it culture is an oxymoron. Identity as a whole is in flux here, despite the efforts to concoct a persona from the marketing department. The school, like the surrounding area, is in the midst of a grow first, deal with the consequences later spree. They are more focused on being bigger instead of focusing on what needs to actually be done to improve things. Many of the good employees are getting frustrated and leaving or being asked to leave.

Pros

Good vacation for graduate faculty

Cons

Too many administrators making big salaries and Pontificating. Constantly talking about how university is broke- so this is why you get minimal raise, this is why your retirement matching goes down, this is why you cannot get the supplies that you need because the budget was cut and given to another department. If you are a graduate faculty, you are well aware that the money that you pull in for the university is used to keep the undergraduate components afloat. A few years ago, they asked people to leave voluntarily as a way to stay afloat. They are dishonest with students in terms of housing, food, plans, and fees. The main campus in Wingate, North Carolina, while attractive, is in an ugly, desolate town. The campus is unsafe and frequently on lockdown because of criminals from the town who come on campus grounds.
