Awful management with no duty of care - Customer Service Representative Winemark Employee Review

Pros

Through my time in Winemark the only pro I can even think of is the independence on your shifts as you’re mostly on shifts completely alone. But then again, they use this against you the next day when particular tasks (which you weren’t even told to do) aren’t done.

Cons

Little to no communication with any type of serious manager. Store managers don’t care at all, I was sent to multiple shops and it was the same wherever you go, they clearly haven’t been given any actual training to be managers aswell as their communication skills are terrible and they act as if you are troubling them when you have any questions or concerns. Favouritism was also evident, some staff members were allowed to get away with actions that quite frankly weren’t legal while others would be scrutinised for nit picked tasks clearly just gave out to keep us busy. The worst part is that when you try to report this to higher up management they don’t even respond to you. I couldn’t even get through to somebody to report these issues and the manager I did send the information to, I had to chase up multiple times. They also do not care about the customers, they told us to only have one till on in any given shift and customers would have to wait in massive lines while the other staff member would have to fill ‘gaps’ in the stock. Overall I would NEVER suggest you work for this company if you have any respect for yourself .

Pros

Flexible hours (depending on manager). Easy enough money.

Cons

Company has no concern for staff welfare. Most shifts will be single-manned, contrary to both common sense and the advice of the PSNI. The days can be slow due to lack of anything engaging for staff. No radio/music allowed in the store, and no genuine rest breaks seem to be permitted when single-manned. The impact that constant lone working has on individuals is not considered. Barring the panic button, very little is offered to make the workplace safe for lone workers, especially those in shops who keep their door locked. In the event of a medical emergency or accident, employees are at serious risk. Customers can sometimes be difficult, however that is admittedly out of the company's control.
