Pros

Lovely colleagues in the stores, good opportunity to develop knowledge like completing wine tasting courses.

Cons

Bad senior management that don't seem to care about staff that are working on their shop floors. Bad and awkward paying/holiday software system.

Pros

Flexible hours (depending on manager). Easy enough money.

Cons

Company has no concern for staff welfare. Most shifts will be single-manned, contrary to both common sense and the advice of the PSNI. The days can be slow due to lack of anything engaging for staff. No radio/music allowed in the store, and no genuine rest breaks seem to be permitted when single-manned. The impact that constant lone working has on individuals is not considered. Barring the panic button, very little is offered to make the workplace safe for lone workers, especially those in shops who keep their door locked. In the event of a medical emergency or accident, employees are at serious risk. Customers can sometimes be difficult, however that is admittedly out of the company's control.
