Pros

-They are one of the few employers in Penticton. -Good location—close to the beach. -There is a recreation room downstairs where you can regroup briefly after you have been yelled at by management. -Salary is paid on time (but it is low) -Decent health benefits. -Free parking.

Cons

Where do I start?!... I am surprised that this pathetic company whose core product is decades outmoded and whose work culture is beyond toxic hasn't gone belly-up yet. The “managers” are at the bottom of the barrel—they are a clique of unprofessional, abusive, uneducated, corrupt and clueless people with no work ethic. They lack integrity, and lie to their customers and to their staff. Finger-pointing, bullying and back-stabbing of employees by managers are common at Windward. The managers gossip and slander their staff, creating an unproductive work environment with low morale. The negative, aggressive, and brutish management style with lots of yelling and constant threats of job loss contributes to an extremely toxic workplace with a ridiculous amount of unhappy employees. The HR department is highly ineffectual. Promotions are based on nepotistic reasons (there are family members at the management level) as well as on personal friendships with the CEO. Endless daily meetings do nothing to clarify goals, set plans towards strategic accomplishments, or solve issues. Retention of valuable staff is poor—some leave, and others are fired for thin reasons. Any constructive feedback is considered insubordination and is punished. The list goes on and on. Avoid this toxic company at all costs. (The minimum rating is one star, but even one star is too generous a rating for Windward Software!)

Cons

We were previously owned by an individual whose culture is still remembered by some. Those wounds are still healing.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Windward Software has been around for over 40 years and we are grateful to our customers for their patronage and to our employees for believing in what we do and contributing to our longevity. Culture is a difficult thing to change. We want to retain the people who have built the business over so many years and who continue to contribute great work. Senior leadership has changed, but as you have said, memories and mindsets, including old biases take time transform and we have to routinely check our biases and listen. Customers are critical to Windward Software's success. We must continue to listen to customer feedback, proactively engage with our customers, and strive to provide great solutions and services for them. As the CEO/GM of the business, I truly believe that employees are the key in all of this. People who care about customers and each other, who feel listened to and seen, who feel rewarded by the work they do together for customers, and who are provided with a work environment that supports them and their families. Windward continuously works to provide this. We are not perfect at meeting everyone's needs. Everyone plays a role in making Windward Software a great place to work. We are each responsible for our own happiness and for bringing our best selves to every human interaction. Each person has an influence at Windward Software. Thank you so much for your feedback!
