Pros

This fair warning to you: Think of the worst-case scenario in a workplace and that is what this one became in January for overnight Freight Crew. The new “Toxic Pathological Manager” ASM transfer and the other non-toxic ASM trade-off biannually. Department of Corrections inmates would be treated better than under the new “TPM” ASM. Get in between July and out by January; Except: If you are an INFJ-T (“Turbulent Advocate”) personality (MBTI), you won’t be able to cope here.

Cons

Gross Mismanagement, Bait and Switch, Pathological Manager [ASM], Toxic Workplace Environment, No Communication, No Training, Unrealistic Demands, Schedules as scheduled are completely meaningless, Backstabbing, a "team" only when it suits them, and: Freight Expectations #62 (6 months too late 'team' meeting of being talked at): *Down stacking – 7-10 minutes per pallet, high stacks, [Impossible.] *Case counting – everyday, 100 cases per hour minimum [100CPH *MINIMUM* is NOT WinCo policy/NOT realistic: = 30-seconds per case to: 1. Orient the box. 2. Check the face of the product by slicing one edge of the box to pull it out and look. 2b. Reorient the case and: 3. “Cut in a precise manner” the top and front of the box. 3b. Individually by-hand flip the front of the product if you failed to check first. 4. Visually scan the shelf to locate where you need to throw it. 5. Confirm the UPC# on the shelf and on the product [there is not sufficient time to do this for every case/tag.] 6. Rip out the existing improperly thrown/faced half-case/s 2nd and/or 3rd deep on the shelf; plus existing loose product in the back of existing half/full-cases, and/or: 7. Consolidate the existing half-cases and/or loose products in the back of the 2nd and/or 3rd case deep on the shelf to make a full-case, and/or: 8. Hand-stack the loose products in the front of the new full case (when you can’t make a full case). 9. Break down all the cardboard into the shopping carts.] _Facing *Half cases pull cardboard [You can’t face before you throw.] *No single unit in the back only the front [Dealt with while throwing not facing.] _Throwing *Throw product to the correct UPC [Blamed for existing misplaced items.] *Only throw up full cases not half/ or hand stack them *Always have 2 carts, or more if needed with you *Bail your cardboard/ plastics [not always doable before punch-out.] _Positive Work Environment [oh, the irony!] *No negative comments/ coworkers, schedules, management, etc. [No: communication, clarification, explanation, remediation, constructive feedback, etc.] *Must work with everyone/ WinCo work policy [ASM excepted to adhere.] *Never state “I don’t throw that aisle” or don’t want to be here. [Don’t communicate difficulty with particular aisles/procedures or attempt to resolve them; or your need of a step stool and having to always have 2+ carts with you which negatively impacts case count and your overall time-management when you are having to move between 2-3 aisles in different locations performing 3 different tasks between them at different times; or that 2-3 aisle splits is not reasonable to expect to be fully completed to full and exacting satisfaction in ~2 hours.] _Schedules [Mean absolutely nothing] *Hours are earned by what we order [False. Won’t call in a crew member less than 2 miles away even when short staffed. Turns crew against you.] *Opportunity when needed to stay – Stay/ don’t state “I was only scheduled till 5” [Never allowed to decline, your right per the CBA, or explain why you need to decline this ‘offer’. NOR point out assigned too much in ~2 hours of 5-hour shift.] *Vacations request 2 weeks in advanced [Don’t.] *Requests are only request [Not allowed to use your “vacation” time for medical reasons.]

Pros

Great co workers, upbeat, fast paced (makes the time fly by), excellent pay, good work/life balance and the employee insurance package is outstanding

Cons

The point system is notoriously strict. You won’t start at 40 hours per week - hours may vary. Breaks are only ten minutes, barely enough time for a bathroom break
