Good hours, but work was hard on the body - Cashier WinCo Foods Employee Review

Pros

Even though I was a part-time college student, management respected my availability and provided me with really good hours. Therefore I got a decent paycheck. Though, I was easily working 30 to 40 hours in a two-week time frame. In perspective, each shift was 8 hours and was rarely less. There was also decent room to move up in the company. Many cashiers would become assistant clerks or lead clerks if they stuck with the company long enough.

Cons

There was a point system that was rather restrictive at times. If you were more than 5 minutes late you were given a point and once you got enough points you could be let go. You also could not work at competitor businesses while working at WinCo which can be a turn-off for some. Cashiering itself was not difficult, but standing for so long was incredibly hard for the body. They do provide stools, but it was hard to work with them because speed was valued above all else. Another major problem was sick-leave, if you called out sick and ran out of sick leave which was barely a week long, then you would be given a decent amount of points. Because of this employees force themselves to work even if they are sick because they fear possibly losing their jobs.

Pros

Great co workers, upbeat, fast paced (makes the time fly by), excellent pay, good work/life balance and the employee insurance package is outstanding

Cons

The point system is notoriously strict. You won’t start at 40 hours per week - hours may vary. Breaks are only ten minutes, barely enough time for a bathroom break

Pros

There is no pros to working here.

Cons

They don't account for any experience whatsoever. If you have 10 plus years in the same field they still screw you with base pay. Don't waste your time go to Walmart or smiths.
