Pros

Decent pay, well known name, great people to work with, interesting projects.

Cons

Poor management when planning for size of workforce. Extremely poor communication with employees. I was recruited away from a great situation and promised a much better one. I was laid off in less than a year, not because of performance but because sr management did a poor job of keeping some key contracts, and also miscalculated and overhired the number of employees. Lots of good people lost their jobs. I wasn't even officially told I lost my job. My boss just told me over the phone that the program I worked on was being cancelled, and that I should make friends with some of the other managers - maybe someone would have a spot for me. That was the last conversation I had with him. I lasted a few months longer working in other areas, then the hours eventually dwindeled to zero. In the end I am responsible for making the decision to leave my former job, but the way this company handled things left a bad taste in my mounth. In my opinion very tacky and unprofessional.

Pros

Willdan will take, and take. If you are not someone who cannot look out for your own health and wellbeing with steadfastness, I would not work here. Most colleagues and supervisors will sooner take credit for your work, boasting about your success as their own or offering up your ideas, than they will to take a second to know you. If you are willing to duplicate this model, you will rise in the ranks quickly! My experience was that on one hand, the salary, flexibility, and low level of difficulty allowed for other parts of my life to take front and center. But on the other hand, every hour I spent pushing paper, designing spreadsheets with yet another flawed representation of data, and witnessing cruel mistreatment of coworkers, was an hour I regret wasting. Some people are more easily able to separate life and work, but spending so much of my time acting as a bandaid for broken systems took a mental toll on me. Willdan might well provide needed space and money for other valuable parts of your life, but I would not expect this workplace to be a source of pride or fulfillment or human connection.

Cons

From my perspective, Willdan is the inevitable result of an economic system whose main goal is profit, at the expense of people and ecosystems. The most credit I can give Willdan is that it doesn’t try to be anything but a money-maker for its shareholders. That bluntness is a breath of rancid air, but air nonetheless, compared to many organizations that will try and convince you that their work is meaningful when it is nothing close.
