Pros

Educating kids and adults about a range of animals. Pay is ok if you're only working 1 hour and not travelling far each day.

Cons

Pay is the same no matter how many hours worked that day or distance travelled. Don't reimburse miles under 130 and even after they only give 35p per mile. They make you travel multiple hours each way to events which isn't fair on either you or your animals. You have to keep multiple large boxes of equipment for science events. You have to pay for liability insurance, council licensing, animals, animal food, lightning and upkeep, all of which are barely covered by what you earn. They encourage keeping rabbits in hutches - any responsible rabbit owner will know they need 2-3m space minimum to roam. They don't specify to customers that people who work for them have their own animals and not the generic pictures listed on the website, resulting in anger directed at you in some instances. Husband of the couple who runs it is gross and immature - joked about 'r*ping' customers phones with a Google review tag so they're forced to leave a review. Avoid working for these people at all costs.

Pros

If you are looking for an enjoyable job where you get to educate the public about animals and science, Wild Science is a great option. No two days are the same, in a new place every day. For someone who loves animals and science, it does not feel like work, and animal well-being is always a high priority for everyone in the team. In response to other feedback, the owners took this on board and implemented a new pay structure, so we are paid more for longer days.

Cons

Sometimes there is more driving than I would prefer, but you do get paid travel bonuses. As you are on your own, it can become lonely at times.
