Pros
Small firm so you get access to various tasks
Cons
-Really disorganized office, no policies or procedures, no standard practice -senior designers would yell at you if you asked any questions, they would put down and make fun of any design selections you made -you were never made aware of the amount of billed time you had to spend on a project, but would always get feedback that you spent too much time -would regularly work til 8,9,10 at night and on weekends with little regard or consideration -very little pay, (just above poverty level) you only receive lieu time after 44 worked hours -was once asked to take a 25% pay cut because they couldn’t afford me -general office environment is toxic -the senior designers are your client, not your actual client. If they don’t agree with a finish selection or design then your client won’t see it and you will go back to the drawing board numerous times until it fits the senior designers “tastes” (not the clients) -owner is never around and is completely unaware of things in the office -if you have a meeting with the owner to go over your project she will have little to no regard for that meeting, pushing back the meeting hours, and typically days. Thus causing you to lose time toward your deadlines and having to work overtime to make up for it
