Great place to get experience, not a great place for a full career - Senior Finance Manager Whirlpool Corporation Employee Review

Pros

You will work with intelligent people who have a passion for their work and are fun to be around. You will be challenged with interesting projects and will be given a lot of responsibility. Everyone around you is driven to win. If you are early in your career and want some excellent experience and want to build your resume for the next move, this is a great place to be.

Cons

The talent pool evaluation process is rank driven, which drives bad behavior sometimes (throwing others under the bus in order to appear to be a stronger player in the talent pool). There is also an 'up or out' mentality which makes a long term career almost impossible. The organization is flattening, so upward mobility is shrinking, which is driving talented people to leave the company in order to find promotional opportunities.

Pros

Strong brand recognition and quality products. A bunch of great people.

Cons

Cult-like relationships: if you didn't grow up in Benton Harbor...Your boss did. I was recruited based on more than 25 years of multifamily housing experience and long-standing industry relationships. After joining, I discovered a substantial portion of my responsibilities involved government and commercial laundry accounts, which were not my area of expertise and were not what I expected from the interview process. The company appeared to place greater emphasis on standardized account management than leveraging established customer relationships and industry networks. For professionals hired because of their market knowledge and connections, this may be frustrating.
