Pros

Retained staff through Covid, lots of effort put into patrons' happiness and programming, accommodating for most schedules, assistance in college tuition for MLIS education. Recent efforts towards diversity inclusion for staff has been promising.

Cons

Management across the board suffers from lack of trust, especially in HR, with repeated instances of discrimination, retaliation, and handing out punishments not approved in employee handbook. Instances of discrimination based on protected categories goes ignored for the sake of "drama". Fixes have been band-aid level and do not address key sources of personnel behavior, and likely will not until those responsible retire or are forced to leave. Staff afraid to confront due to previously mentioned retaliation.

Pros

They hire from within before posting outside.

Cons

There can be cliques and some people are controlling. If you are sick on a Saturday you need to bring a doctors note or be disciplined, but that involves going to the doctors with a cold/flu instead of staying home

Pros

Greedy admin and board will do anything to get more money to blow. Completely irresponsible with the money they receive from taxes, donations ect. They want their levy to pass so they can continue to be extravagant. Currently trying to raise 30,000 for a DRAGON that will sit atop the library for one month and then go into rented storage for 11 months. The last dragon they created was supposed to last 5 years but only lasted 3. Now they want more money so they can build another one. Renovate departments and throw away perfectly good furniture and then have to shift their funds around to replace said furniture. Librarians have their hands full with entitled patrons, customer service is worked to death with off desk jobs, yearly goals, monthly goals, helping out other departments, catering to entitled customers, managers and admin pretend like everything is wonderful. Its a really toxic system. When management and staff start to crack the only person they have to go to is HR which is the most gas lighting person in the building.

Cons

There are no pros other than people's lives do improve when they leave this place.
