Pros

Occasional small and cheap treats from the company, free soda in the fridge, ping pong table in the break room, good for experience in the tech field, and a part time job while going to school.

Cons

Training is poor/lackluster has a very large learning curve, old hardware for workstations, favoritism is a problem, pay isn't competitive for the industry, advancement is almost non existent.

We appreciate the hard work of so many of our long term employees. Nearly every one of our Sys Admins, Developers, DC Techs/Network Engineers, and department managers have been promoted because of their performance. If you felt you were not given those opportunities, I can promise we did everything possible to communicate ways in which you could grow professionally. We work hard to provide employees with a comfortable working environment, opportunities to learn and grow, and steady employment. With that said, we can always do better.

Pros

Great working environment, awesome employees. Managers really help guide you along your career path.

Cons

Don't expect opportunities often for moving up. Usually 1-2 years for a position to open up.

Thank you for the favorable comments, and for your years of service! We try hard to take care of our employees. Westhost has been a stepping stone for literally hundreds of Technical Support staff over the past 15 years. We always try to promote internally first, when opening new positions. We wish there were more advancement opportunities, but certainly take advantage of internal staff when openings become available!

Pros

The people at the company really do try their best to make things better for the employees. Management will create schedules based on your school schedule, they will listen seriously to your concerns, and they try to have a stress free workplace. No one there is at all perfect, but they do care, and they try as best they can. I can't think of anyone that I really didn't like at the company even despite some bad apples. Also free soda every day, free pizza every other week, and free bagels on the weeks you don't get pizza.

Cons

You can't get around the fact that you are going to be working in an environment where people are going to yell at you all day because their website is broken. If you can't be a little thick-skinned, this job is not for you. People are jerks to tech support, even when you do your job and help them. Not everyone is like this, but you can't take it personally. A last bit is that there are times where you have to pick up slack for others. When you have 5 people waiting in line to be helped, and your co-workers aren't helping like they should, then you get stuck having to deal with a lot of the workload yourself. This can be pretty frustrating, but it's not necessarily every day, making it less of an issue for some.

Thank you for your hard work! Dealing with clients can sometimes be challenging, especially when their website isn't functioning like they want. While there are times work can be busy and a little stressful, we value the strong relationships we gain with long standing clients who admire our support team, organization, and client service culture. Thank you again for your service!
