Great Product - Horrible Owner - Anonymous employee WellnessMats Employee Review

The owner is passionate, I'll give him that. He knows the marketplace, he knows his product, and he knows how to sell it - but he does NOT know how to run a business or manage people. His many attempts to structure a good, efficient company have all failed miserably. When systems and processes fail, or another stressed out and miserable employee leaves, he NEVER truly takes the responsibility for that failure. He ALWAYS points the finger at others, placing blame and playing the victim. He is incredibly unprofessional with his comments and notoriously throws past employees under the bus and speaks negatively about them (great example to the team, right?). I have never seen turnover like I have at WellnessMats (at least 30%) and once you are here you will know why. The crazy thing is, the owner does not even act like he cares. He responds with "our company is not for everyone" - his ego is too big to admit fault. He has not once looked in the mirror and realized that after years of turnover and shuffling through people (even those that remained dedicated & loyal till the end), that there's only one common denominator left = HIM. He has run this poor company into the ground. He will not sell to someone else and will not admit failure because it's all about appearance to this man. He drives the fancy cars, brags about his rich friends, and acts like his stuff doesn't stink. The best thing he can do for the brand, the employees, and what's left of his reputation is to completely hand the company over to someone else to run. He should have NO involvement or presence in that office and MAYBE the company could turn around. Sound like your next great opportunity? By all means, apply. But don't say you weren't warned. All of the other glassdoor reviews are true.
