Pros
People are generally nice, and there are some very talented professionals at the mix. The Copley Sq office location is beautiful and conveniently located, though I hear that there is a move in the near future so that will be changing. I learned a lot during my tenure at BCMHP and I appreciate many of the lasting professional connections I made. In general I think BMCHP has a lot of potential, but failure to trim the fat and streamline ops means losing talent to other organizations that will allow plans to execute on a realistic timeline.
Cons
If you are looking for red tape, an endless cycle of useless meetings, and a failure to lead people or manage change, BMCHP may be for you. If you like training for your position, support to help you succeed, and clearly defined metrics outlining your successes and knowledge gaps, well, this place probably isn't for you. I worked at BMCHP for over three years, and I was shocked at how much time was wasted having meetings about meetings, disciplining people who may not deserve it, and generally creating smoke-and-mirrors smooth-over scenarios instead of channeling talent to get things done. I met some wonderful people and was given some interesting opportunities, but boy, is this place a mess. I also saw a lot of nasty behavior, from every level of this organization. Why is this not managed? And, who is managing the managers?
