Pros

Remote work, neat clients, great individual contributors who are talented. Decent network of contractors. Good pay. Talented leadership for their specific skill sets, not necessarily for management.

Cons

Feedback is minimal, even when requested, or is only positive. Hard to grow or understand what you're doing incorrectly, leading to more stress. Processes were not clear, especially for a tiny company. Definite lack of communication between management, sales, and the teams. Management often have a vision for a project that isn't clearly communicated. Unrealistic timelines and budgets for the quality of work they want to deliver, forcing some projects to go to overseas contractors which only causes more problems in the long run. Surprisingly political for how small the company is. Would promise one thing, then literally turn around the next week and go against it without any communication behind the reasoning. Constantly promising benefits, better timelines, better documented procedures, but everyone is so wrapped up in their 45+ hours of work a week that there's never any time to actually get that done. Absolutely *nothing* changed in the time that I was there, just more people added to the management to throw problems onto - and they rarely actually get to do their intended jobs. Turnstile of project managers, leading to poorly managed projects because there's no one experienced enough in managing them. The only examples of projects are other poorly led ones. They requested that everyone post reviews on Glassdoor, but majority of company had been there less than 4 months, barely enough experience to post. Nothing wrong with this practice, but I think it puts context on the other reviews.

Thank you for providing us with this review. We look at each and every one, and take the time to truly think about how we can take the feedback you provide and make Weejee a better place to work. Feedback in a small company is important, but it can be a little tricky. In small companies, everyone speaks to each other directly, usually multiple times a day, essentially providing feedback in real time. But we recognize this is not always the right kind of feedback. Weejee has grown to a size where a structured feedback system is important for all its employees and contractors, and so we’re creating a feedback program that will include 360 feedback and more frequent supervisor feedback so that each employee has a better, fuller understanding of where they are doing well and where they can improve. As a company, we have recently upgraded our project management system. The new system will provide for better efficiencies and greater communication among the teams and management. Scoping a project is more difficult than it would first appear for a number of reasons. Clients come to us with varying levels of understanding of the process and varying levels of content readiness. Our sales team does its best to include in all proposals the assumptions and contingencies necessary to accommodate resource overages, extended review cycles and scope increases due to added functionality and features. Over time, the architecting of solutions and our proposal have gotten really strong, and with the agile-like approach we take to most of our projects, we’ve been able to better convey to Weejee’s internal teams and the clients’ teams the specifics of the engagement, so that when a project reaches the point where additional resources are needed, we are at a mutual point of understanding with the client. There are many variables at stake that can simply change at the drop of a hat. Weejee tries to take into consideration all factors when scoping for projects with the information known at that time. With agile project management, the processes will improve and allow for better adaptability for projects. The new PM tool that we have switched to will also allow more insight into which pieces of the project take more or less time, and we will be able to adjust future scopes of projects accordingly. For resourcing, Weejee uses a mix of full-time staff and contract resources. Weejee focuses on hiring resources locally and nationally, and if required to do so, we will look internationally. We have clients around the world, and with that, we may need resources outside of the US to accommodate. We value each and every person that works with us. We are sorry that you felt that it was a political atmosphere. Again, we’re a small company. Perhaps our goal of being as efficient and direct as we can be with our clients comes across in a different way, and if that is the case, we are truly sorry. As a small company, Weejee Peeps wear many different hats, and during busy times, that may mean – like any job – you put in more hours that week than usual. But that’s not the norm. We value someone who can get their work done well in 38 hours, and spend the rest of the time enjoying their life outside of work. We value personal time, and know that people need that time to be more inspired and more efficient when they are at work. As mentioned, we do ask all employees to add reviews to Glassdoor. Like any company out there, we have improvements that can be made. We think we do a pretty good job of being a great place to work that is also flexible, but we know we don’t have all of the right answers. Other sites like InHerSight rank us as one of the top places for women to work, and we think it’s a pretty great place. Lastly, when we hire at Weejee, we not only hire for fit and skill set, but we also hire for potential. We would much rather be able to promote from within when we can, and in order to do that, we have to take a chance on employees that may not have had formal experience. We thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback. We read and take each one to heart. -Weejee Talent Team

Pros

Extremely talented employees, carefully chosen to excel in their roles. Everyone has a clear strength that is being leveraged, and everyone is cross-trained to some extent in one or more other roles in order to support and challenge each other to be the best. Weejee has invested in tools and templates needed to work efficiently and at a high quality. The majority of my time is spent actually producing work rather than prepping with administrative or unecessary repetitive tasks. Weejee respects the virtual work environment and harnesses its power rather than blaming its challenges. The teams are close, the live meeting time is used very productively, and communication is constant and clear.

Cons

We are not all local to the office, so many of us know each other only through phone and video calls. We really like each other! It would be nice to do an annual whole-group team event. Benefits are limited, being a small company. It would be nice to have a few more options as the company grows.

Pros

You are not just another name at Weejee; they take a very individualized approach with their employees and take the time to figure out how to work to people's strengths. Everyday I feel like I am accomplishing something and making a difference to the company. I've never felt more appreciated at a job and I've never worked for a company that cares so much about how I'm feeling in my role and making sure I'm satisfied with my work and with my quality of life (work/life balance). My coworkers are amazing. They are friendly and talented. Everyone from the top down tries to foster a sense of Weejee community even with those people who are working remotely and from far away.

Cons

Really wish they offered benefits! I really love the flexibility and go-with-the-flow attitude, but some HR procedures and policies could be tightened up and clarified.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We definitely hear you on the benefits piece. We are looking into providing benefits for our full-time employees and how much that will cost. It's on our radar for sure. We try as a company to have our employees be supportive and provide a workplace that values our employees and their lives. We think our current team is amazing, and we'd love to be able to collaborate more - something we are also working on improving the frequency of. Thanks again for your kind words! Weejee Rocks! -Weejee Talent Team
