Great Benefits, Incompetent HR, Low Salary - Intelligence Analyst Washington State Patrol Employee Review

Pros

- 9.5% retirement contribution regardless if you contribute or not - all federal holidays off, a little under 2 months of sick leave and vacation per year - able to work four 10s, hybrid

Cons

- HR can be wildly incompetent when it comes to discussion of job reclassifications/raises - your salary will be very low. At the moment, starting salary is 42k which is borderline poverty/one financial accident away from not making rent at all times if you're living alone

Pros

Benefits and retirement are the main driving forces for people staying in this field.

Cons

Highly stressful, long hours, working weekends, nights, and holidays, poor work-life balance, and being on-call without getting compensated for it.

Pros

The pay is fantastic, and there is a lot of room for growth.

Cons

This agency is heavily stuck in the past, and does not have a clear sense of direction. It is riding on the momentum of the past, and has a chief who started his career in the 1970's. He is out of touch with the direction the agency needs to go in the future. There are good people all over the agency doing good things; however, there is no one really steering the ship.
