Pros

The work is really interesting and management treats their employees exceptionally! I enjoyed my time working at Washington CORE and was able to build fantastic relationships. Moreover, I learned a lot through the research and was able to transfer skills to subsequent work environments.

Cons

Pay is a bit lower than what some larger firms might offer, but that is a function of the company being rather small compared to larger consulting firms.

Pros

Generally friendly co-workers, the chance to learn in different areas of consulting, or their definition of consulting, which is slightly different to the American one. These are really the the only things that I can think of.

Cons

Low pay, terrible benefits (the insurance is the low-premium "integrated deductible," which means that you're on the hook for the first $1200 dollars out of pocket on virtually all your health care expenses, managers that don't give clear directions nor explain what they want or what is expected of you, essentially mandated unpaid overtime, terrible communication between management and employees, very little collaboration. The 3-month probationary period, which is a formality at many companies, is not a formality here. They WILL look for any reason or excuse to get rid of you. The management is dishonest; they told me they didn't have the money to hire me at first, and then after they made an offer, they hired two other people. They hired me for a position and then changed their minds and shuffled me around after I started. Just understand that they will not be honest with you and deal with them accordingly.
