Worse Than Useless IT Leadership and Management - Systems Administrator Washington Companies Employee Review

Pros

Cafeteria in Vancouver has some good food. Other than that, not many positives. Unqualified leaders and managers drag this place to the bottom.

Cons

Lots of back handedness and toxic behavior. Extremely unlikable managers. Any hires in the past 3 or so years are massively unqualified. IT infrastructure suffers from terrible hires due to this. A technical department doesn't do technical interviews because management has no idea what they even manage. Those non technical people get immediate access to systems they shouldn't, make massive mistakes and don't document or communicate anything. This brings down every other department in the whole enterprise. Instead of admitting bad hires or mistakes, those bad apples are allowed to continue and drag everyone down. Awful HR systems and people. I've heard the US HR team make very nasty comments about their own employees out loud. Canada doesn't have to worry about this, but the US employees complain about terrible benefits. Seems like policies change that do not benefit them at all, all the time. Rules for employees that don't apply to leadership. No polices in writing because then everyone would have to follow. No raises or opportunity for advancement

Pros

Pucker up to the right people and you'll be home free to do whatever you want with no repercussions whatsoever.

Cons

You'll have to be a complete yes man to some of the most clueless people in the organization. Inexperience, bad practices, and wrong decisions will be implemented and absolutely no one will want to change course to the right path. Lots of lazy people that just want to maintain and collect a check. Leadership, directors, and managers seem to be promoted into somewhere they have zero idea how to the job. IT is a revolving door that can't seem to retain or hire decent people. Infrastructure seems to really suffer due to mismanagement. Terrible HR and onboarding. HR doesn't really seem to be knowledgeable about most things. Their answers were completely wrong and there is no employee handbook because things change by the day. Benefits are some of the worst I've seen in a business. You'll be paying for everything. You will have zero sick time and be expected to take your scarcely earned PTO as sick time. Lack of flexibility has become micromanagement. Expect unqualified people to get reports on your badging in and out of the office. Work from home is severely restricted and inflexible. No raises. Minimum cost of living adjustments. No opportunity for advancing in the company. Awful facilities. Some bathrooms literally don't have hot water. Every time it rains, somewhere floods and the building will need remediation while the employees are expected to just breath in the mildew and mold. No investment in the team. No team building, no training, and you'll be assigned projects that have nothing to do with your job.
