Pros

*** Unlike all the other 5-star reviews, this is a real one and not published by WG to skew the score *** Even here you can spot quite some Russian propaganda. And yet they think they are clever! Overall, the corporate organisation is full of incompetent people but salaries are above average in the industry. That's what keeps me here. If you want to be paid a good salary and barely work with no effort whatsoever then this is the place for you! Especially if you’re in a leading position, you will be able to delegate any tasks and claim the success other people achieved as your own. It is fairly easy to have a decent career progression even if you are not qualified in this company. As long as you have a way with words and are willing to please C-level employees by polishing the apple and promise results to upper management even though those are unrealistic, you will be believed without being questioned. Which is nuts! Honestly though, only a handful of people are willing to help and provide support in a very timely manner in this company.

Cons

Internally, employees refer to themselves as a “Family” but this is far from the truth. No matter what team you work for, you will soon see that each individual's focus is on personal gain, as in recognition, monetary bonus and promotions. The work environment does not safeguard meritocracy and it is not possible to report unprofessional behavior without compromising your own position. The system is deeply flawed as team managers constantly take ownership of your own success and they are ready to blame you when something goes south. For instance, this shady behavior can be noticed in group meetings which tend to be filled with nice corporate words (aka BS) that always try to cover objectively bad results. In your 1-on-1 and follow-up meetings you will then hear your manager talk behind people’s back, sharing the truth concerning bad product performance and pointing the finger at your colleagues as the culprits of the actual lack of results. Micro-management is taken to the extreme in this company. You get hired as a subject matter expert but you will eventually find yourself to be following orders of employees in a leading role that have absolutely no knowledge on the matters at hand. If you are not a Russian speaker you start off with a huge disadvantage, provided that you could land a job without speaking the language. When it comes to hiring people, the people you are going to work with represent the most unreliable in the company and you will have to deal with. They can’t understand simple job requirements and therefore accurately list them for new openings, even if you thoroughly guide them through what is expected from the new hires; this results in misleading jobs postings and unfitting candidates, not to mention the waste of time. Allow me to give you a couple of examples about the way certain departments operate. I have seen employees help their own friend to move to another department and relocate after less than 6 months into their job, just because they complained that their workload and responsibilities were too tough. When this happened, it forced the product team to find a replacement for this person, despite the fact that the official product release was just around the corner. If you join this company you will soon hear "In Wargaming it is all about politics". This will become the leitmotiv during your employment here. But what does it really mean? It means that you have to watch your mouth and do what you are told if you want to survive in this company. There is no such thing as open-minded people here and don't even get me started on diversity. In fact, with the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops all Wargaming employees were asked to refrain from using social media to comment on the topic. Rightfully so, some employees supported the Ukrainian people and their heart went out for them with supportive messages that were shared nonetheless. These employees are now facing internal consequences and some of them have even been removed from their jobs. This also happened to people that only shared their thoughts to their inner circle of friends and goes to show how people within the company are keeping tabs on all employees to prevent people from sharing their own opinion. Corporate dictatorship, this is what it is! Also, take a look at the significant number of positive review for the company since the end of 2020. All those are fake reviews that some employees are posting in order to change the overall low score and reputation the company had. This was actually a topic of discussion internally where the goal was to overturn the bad image the company had here on Glassdoor.
