Pros

I had a great trainer that was a true leader. Had it not been for him I would have left the first day.

Cons

They have 1 indian man who runs the whole IT dept. In the interview he came across as nice and love bombs you. If your personality is one that narcissistic abusers choose, beware. From the time I walked through the door he started berating me, verbally abusing me making remarks to indicate I am slow and stupid. He does this over the stand up meeting to the team and it embarasses me. He compares me to people who have worked here in the past and tells me how they were better and faster yet none of them are here. He also constantly reminds me he works all the time during off hours, holidays and weekends and expects me to do the same. He makes sure I know he is the smartest and the best and I am a piece of dirt unworthy of working on his old delapidated spaghetti code. Work is this man's god and he expects the same out of you. They do slapstick code and put in production on the same day its assigned. The assignments come in 1 sentence email and you are supposed to know what to do and get it done the next day. If you dont he harrasses you and says. How long is this going to take? You are to slow. Then makes you feel worthless if you dont have the assignment done the next day. No QA or V environment. If you aren't done with the assignment in 1 or 2 days he takes you in his office to abuse you regardless of the trainer saying you are doing great. Alot of anxiety here. Waffle House wont get rid of him because he's been here like 30 yrs and they wont survive without him so he has power and does what he wants. He mostly does this to as400 team. He is very arrogant and prideful and critical. Not to mention micromanaging and controlling. He stands behind you to watch you work and points out when you are making errors or trying to figure out something. He expects you to come In and on the first day to know everything and if u dont it means you are stupid. When you have to take time to understand the code he says you should already know it. He makes sure you know he's great and smart. But this man wont survive if he had to look for a real job. I cried constantly there and and fell into further depression. I hated the weekend because monday was coming. He also got mad if I had appointments. He never let me work nor did he give me time to succeed and figure out the system. It was constant complaining, insults and arrogance. The whole entire time. This job was so unprofessional. He told me I wasnt worth what I was being paid and then told me I had to either stay for half the pay (which i cant live on) or leave. So I walked away. I am coming from 20 yrs of experience at the same fintech company and I think he felt threatened by it because he constantly insulted all my yrs and put me down all the time. I pray to God for justice for uprooting my life to come here for this job and now I am staring down the barrel of homelessness. Please Do not accept a position at waffle house corporate. In IT dept. You will be abused. you will end up mentally ill, burned out and exhausted and unappreciated. I promise you. I am not the only one who as had this experience. Biggest professional mistake of my entire career. Im so embarassed I refuse to put it on my resume. I rather companies think I took a very long break than worked there.

Pros

Solid pay for the industry Okay benefits Employee stock purchase plan Pretty consistent hours The actual work is difficult, but fun after you get good at it. Upward momentum is difficult, but the pay scales very well if you work your way up into management. Prepare for intense work if you do though.

Cons

They hire everyone, and your team will make or break your experience. Genuine safety concerns on 3rd shift. You need to be prepared for people to act out. Senior management only have operation management skills. They are not good "people" managers at all. Only "number" managers.
