I don't recommend working here!!!!! - Customer Relationship Manager Voxbone Employee Review

Pros

Good people, tend to be young, like in 20 - 30s. Lots of diversity as employees spread across UK, Belgium, Ireland and USA. The product management team are stellar as is the business development team. Full benefits after 2 months but salary tends to be lower than industry. Primary contacts at accounts managed are usually good people, nice to work with.

Cons

High stress job with overwhelming workload. There is a big brother, slave driver environment created by CEO and the board. It is excessive and is not helpful or productive. Account managers are treated like young children that cannot be trusted instead of being left to build customer relationships. They are told when to call customers, how many times to e-mail, etc. All needs to be recorded into CRM, so your fingers will be numb each day from so much typing. Big brother is watching for sure. Too bad, does not need to be this way. And the emphasis to sell, sell, sell results in an aggressive sales approach, which does not go well with customers. Another con is the training. Once you join, you get informal training by other employees who do their very best to bring you up to speed. But as an account manager, once you get accounts, you learn on the job. Another con is the amount of accounts you get - over 100, which are too many. And if you get the bad ones, the ones with little potential, like I did, you will be set up for failure like I was. Another con is the turnover of employees - people leave Voxbone a lot, voluntarily and involuntarily (like me, where no reason given for termination). Customers stated they had had at least 4-5 account managers over the years, which was not something they liked.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and this review. We are sorry that your experience with Voxbone was not overall a positive one. We appreciate that working within a sales function is a considerable challenge in itself, especially within our business where we are offering a technically complex solution to our customers. We have put our CRM tool in place as a support to our sales professionals and to help us better manage our accounts and our customer needs. It’s a shame you felt this was a little overwhelming and heavily administrative. We do believe we are similar to other organisations where commercial activities are tracked via a CRM or similar. As a business, it helps us know more about what makes us successful and what we can improve on, as well as help all members of the sales team better manage their time and priorities. We do move accounts around internally to suit the skillset of the team and better serve our customers. So, there may be some customers that have had different account managers over time, but this isn't necessarily down to attrition within the team. We believe it makes better business sense to partner up location, time zones, employee promotions and even language skills with different account managers to make interactions more timely and smoother for our customers. We really appreciate your feedback on our new starter training. As a growing company we are putting programs in place to improve our training. Currently, we partner up new starters with senior members of the team for hands on and ongoing training and invest a lot of time ensuring our employees have the knowledge and tools they need to succeed in their role. We, of course, would not dismiss anyone without reasoning, please do contact our HR team directly and we would gladly provide more information here if anything is unclear to you. Again, it saddens us to read your feedback as we are continuously looking into ways to enhance our new employee training and our employees career journey. We appreciate we are a fast expanding organisation and have many things to improve and introduce as we grow, so we have taken your feedback on board and thank you for your contribution during your time at Voxbone and wish you every success in your future endeavours.

Pros

Extremely intelligent and high functioning work force. The ability to stand-out amongst with in a fairly flat org chart. Great culture - fun, smart, funny, flexible, supportive. Overall the company has a start-up feel, with resources and support of a larger company. Took a chance on this company over a year ago - moved cities, new career, new industry - and I couldn't be more pleased with my decision. Voxbone is amazing and I am extremely lucky to work with such amazing people!

Cons

There is room for improvement operationally, but we are putting things in to place currently to solve this.

Thank you very much for your awesome review and for taking a chance and joining us. You are exactly the type of person we love to have at Voxbone. We've already enjoyed celebrating your successes with you and have seen you flourish into an outstanding team leader. We are truly lucky to have such talented people like yourself. We indeed do have operational improvements to make which has been a growing pain felt from scaling up quickly and globally and the operational side has needed to catch up, but we are getting there.

Pros

First of all, let me just note that training takes place in BELGIUM. That's right, they ship you off to Brussels for a couple weeks to get the lowdown. How cool is that?! Compensation is great. In fact, when I was offered the job they asked what I was looking to make and gave me MORE than the salary I submitted. Plus you get tonssss of benefits. And then there's the company culture: it RULES. Voxbone is a true melting pot making for a diverse and super interesting working environment. And to top it all off, despite the company's rather large size, you don't feel like a little fish in a big pond. You are noticed, you are heard, it's a company that takes care of its own!

Cons

Working in a satellite office you can sometimes feel a bit disconnected from the happenings of the headquarters. This is normal for any company with scattered locations. I feel very fortunate because Voxbone has been tremendously accommodating: I've been able to visit the main office in Brussels a couple times in the last year alone. This has afforded me the opportunity to reconnect in person with the rest of my team. :)

Wow, what a fantastic review to read. Thank you very much for sharing this feedback. We do look after our own, always have and always will. We are so pleased you enjoyed and made the most of your new starter induction in Brussels. We do aim to compensate our staff fairly and give them a chance to grow within their roles. You are proof of this! Having multiple offices in different continents is fantastic but it is also important that each employee feels valued and supported. We have great communication tools we use to stay in touch but we also recognize the importance of face to face time. We invest heavily in travel budgets to allow our employees to spend more time with their respective teams. Our executive team travel frequently to our offices to ensure they are in touch with the business and its needs. This year we are also arranging for our end of year party to take place in London and all employees are invited! What a great time for us to come together and celebrate our successes in 2018.
