Poor leadership and lack of direction. Senior managers only seem interested in pleasing their bosses, telling them what they want to hear and care only about personal career development. Despite talking about developing talent, they prefer to "buy in" external experience - making knowledge management an issue. Knowledgable experts are few and far between with lots of fresh blood in the business re-learning the business. Career development is definitely managed by networking and peer relationships as opposed to having the right skills. Regularly face conflicting priorities with progress slowed by personalities and politics, and unrealistic expectations on overstretched teams.
