Pros

- Double your 5% contribution, so 15% in your pension every month is wonderful - Some colleagues who are diamonds in the rough and value your contributions

Cons

I’ve worked in organisations that have been given a bad rep for no reason, to be honest Vodafone Group is the most horrific environment I’ve ever worked in. It’s management are manipulative, toxic and reckless. The External Affairs team is full of cliquey old timers that never let you join the “clique” and only support each other. In fact it’s so cliquey you may go into the office, say hi to a group in the morning and the whole group will immediately rush to the bathroom together - and they wonder why people don’t want to go into the office twice a week. Favouritism in the EA team is disgusting. In every feedback chat I’ve had with my line manager she’s name dropped her favourite and made comparisons to the point it gets disrespectful. I’ve been accused of lying about my qualifications and experience and told to “be less confident you’re making other people uncomfortable”, when asked for an example it turns out she had an issue with me stating my experience from a past job as it made her shine less. If you’re really unlucky like I was, your line manager will delete your contributions and review comments just in case you may potentially outshine them in projects that they want to steal credit for. Luckily for me, this comment deleting fiasco is something my line manager had done to other line managers in other teams too so I have witnesses, evidence and other people were aware of her behaviour. This very same line manager at some point said that she doesn’t want to invest further time in me and wants me to move on. Management will essentially lie about redundancies to blackmail you into coming to the office - apparantly if you don’t come in twice a week at the very least you literally cannot contribute anything or be of any value (and apparantly the rest of the team cannot function without knowing every single detail of your personal life - including intimate details about your relationships, friendships and health). Management will question why you go on holidays and where your resources are coming from that allow you to go on multiple long haul trips. Management will be passive aggressive and blame you for leaving them to do all the work whilst you’re away. Management may even tell you to wear less makeup in the office. My line manager queried whether I had logged sick leave accurately 2 months after I logged said sick leave. If you do open up to your colleagues or line manager, that information will be used as punishment. For example, if you end up being diagnosed with a health condition and need to go for multiple appointments your team will ignore you and show no empathy. I find it quite sad actually, the blame culture is unreal. Considering the above has happened to me in some form or another every day for 6 months, my line manager somehow still had the audacity to paint me as “disengaged”. The list could go on.
