Pros
- manager for this department is great. - people who have worked for Vista prior to the mass hire are great to work with and knowledgeable as well - work 9 hr days 4 days a week and you can work half day on Friday if you choose to. - flexible hours (as flexible as an oil related company will get...) - you can work from home occasionally if needed for a day or two if you are ill or have appointments.
Cons
- low pay in comparison to other EPCs and much lower pay than owner companies - no bonus or additional valuable compensation - not great benefits package in comparison to other EPCs - new office split the company in two. Require minimum 4 days in the office while the new office is in the middle of no where. Why can't you just get one bigger office space that fits everyone? - hourly work with anal timesheet billing (must comment for every 15-30 minutes increments of your day with great detail) - even if you are an employee, due to the hourly nature of work and billing structure if the project goes on a pause so does your pay for a few hours to a day or two till you get put on something else. If nothing is available then bye bye. - mass hired people for the 3-4 months and the new people completely lack training (especially new seniors who are reluctant to listen to more junior engineers when they try to help them) which is leading those of us who have been here for years to be very frustrated with the new individuals. Training is a major lack. - some people in upper management are absolutely disrespectful - pin blaming is common - 4 day minimum in office. Though not odd for an oil company most places do hybrid 3-2 now or 1 week in office 1 week at home. - clients can be outright ridiculous with their timelines and Vista PMs have a "yes sir" attitude no matter what which causes unnecessary stress.
