Pros

theres not enough good things to write

Cons

Dentures change diapers wipe their bottoms deal with a lot of their mental abuse lift them and sometimes they are dead weight for the most part this is not worth what they barely pay you, you make peanuts slaving away. Just know it's a lot harder than they make it look and you are getting underpaid, another thing is a lot of times you are putting a lot of wear and tear on your car taking them here and there to doctors appointments shopping centers for little mileage they will pay you something as long as you have the client in the car but you don't get paid to drive all the way out to people's houses no matter how far they are you basically put a lot of wear and tear on your car for little pay. It gets exhausting and and maddening. I really put my all into this job at first doing my best but what I found this to be a lot of also was older people just needing a professional housekeeper to come in a lot of these people had you slaving away for the full two hours washing dishes mopping floors cleaning windows then complaining to the company when you sat down and took a five minute break. I was confused a lot of times as to what my job really was if I would have known I would have been hired as a housekeeper I would have never taken it. I don't have an issue with them saying light housekeeping but please know a lot of these elderly people want you to do full on house keeping. The boundaries were also blurred many times you can say no to a certain degree but some of these houses are hoarder houses and one of the families was living with the elderly woman that I was taking care of and they expected me to do some chores around the house which was already a hoarder house however they wanted me to help them go into a very unsanitary kitchen with rotted meat and dump it over their balcony. Some of the things that they expect and want you to do are ridiculous I'm scratching my head thinking wait hold on here now I'm dealing with unsanitary conditions and touching rotted meat? The boundaries are often blurred in these situations you don't know if you're hired as a caregiver or someone to come out and clean out and sanitize a hoarding house. Again this job was disappointing to me and very confusing I felt taken advantage of and used by the company a lot and despite really giving it an effort to do my best a lot of the clients complained about me and they reassigned my shifts if I wasn't getting caught for being a horrible housekeeper then one of the daughters would complain about me for leaving 5 minutes early. I seemed to get more complaints than pats on the back . I personally don't recommend this job. Its a underpaid , thankless job with a company that takes advantage of you and despite really being excited about it , trying to be positive and give it 100% effort of doing what everyone wants you still get crabby family members and clients just in a bad place in life and only able to complain for after breaking your back to make them happy! ALSO please be warned if you go out of your way through all the training ect after getting hired and they told you they will definitely give you at least x amount of hours per week , just know this is not true they will tell you after your hired you have to work towards it, thats all fine however they need to let you know that before you're hired, lots of deception .

Pros

My experience with Visiting Angels has been very good. The work is very fulfilling and there is a strong sense of community within this organization. We problem solve together and management is very supportive and helpful.

Cons

I have had a very positive experience here. I have worked in the home care industry within a few companies for a very long time and it’s hard work sometimes. What sets Visiting Angels apart is the commitment to its staff, clients and community. This has been especially evident during times of challenge within the industry as a whole such as Covid or unexpected weather events.

Pros

Fairly flexible schedule, not much micromanaging.

Cons

Pay keeps changing and not for the better. I started out as salary, then it changed to per visit, plus a small per hour wage. Now, with the latest change, you don't get the per hour unless you have at least 3 visits a day. seems easy right? nope. Clients cancel the visit for whatever reason, or caregivers call in sick and you cannot do a visit unless the CG is there. It is difficult to get another client to agree to a last minute visit. We have lost clients or clients have had their hours for CG's cut due to government cuts to the VA. This makes having enough clients to see in order to make your weekly quota difficult. Insurance is very expensive and they encourage you to find your own outside of the company. PTO is earned at less than 3 hours a week. No sick time. You spend many nights per week making your schedule and then redoing it when a client cancels or a caregiver calls in. This is all non paid time.
