Pros

Small team environment, everyone is friendly. Ability to work on different projects and learn about distribution. Lunch provided on Fridays

Cons

No room for growth or opportunities. High turn over. CEO is mean- she can be rude and disrespectful to her team. I've heard her yell at team members and get upset with them for not understanding things a certain way despite a lack of clear communication on her end.

Pros

Environment was friendly and patient. I was able to learn operations quickly. The staff was very kind while training me. Hours were flexible. CEO was very understanding with scheduling and any emergencies that popped up. I was pleased with the work environment. I was able to share my organizational skills in helping reorganize the company's files and updating the website.

Cons

Parking was a bit difficult. Although most of the work assigned to me was beneficial in my learning about film distribution, some work felt more like busy work. I was doing many of the same tasks and I wanted to be challenged with work that required more responsibility.

Pros

I’m still looking. Maybe the free trauma?

Cons

Vision Films is a cesspool run by a malignant narcissist who should never be allowed near employees, money, or sharp objects. The CEO is a screaming, vindictive bully who treats human beings like disposable punching bags. One year here aged me a decade and left me with anxiety and panic attacks I’m still paying a therapist to untangle. This isn’t “tough indie film culture.” This is systematic abuse: Illegal requests on a weekly basis (falsifying documents, “creative” copyright theft, whatever makes a quick buck). Say no and watch your paycheck disappear. 80–100-hour weeks with zero overtime because “that’s just film.” Expect to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. When I finally escaped, the owner threated to withhold my final wages and threatened to send cops to my house over equipment I had returned—with receipts, photos, and witnesses. Pure extortion, no hesitation to lie to Police. Public humiliation, gaslighting, and rage fits are the daily soundtrack. No HR, no accountability, just a revolving door of broken people who leave shaking. Threatening to ruin my reputation, usual chatter after a few drinks around 11am. The turnover is a parade of shell-shocked faces who realize too late they walked into a cult, not a company. If you’re reading this while considering an offer: close the tab, block the number, and thank me later. There is no amount of money or “experience” worth the soul-crushing damage this place inflicts. I’ve worked in toxic Hollywood environments—this one is in a league of its own. Pure poison. Stay away. Do not expect to ever see honesty or integrity within the operations of Vision Films in Marina Del Rey.
