Pros

No positives for Viscira. This is hands down the worst place I've had the misfortune to work at. Do not waste a single moment even applying for a position here.

Cons

- Poor leadership at all levels. CEO Dave Gulezian (DG) has no people or leadership skills. All leadership positions within the company are filled by people with DG's same lack of skills. - No work-life balance for anyone but the execs. People are expected to work weeks on end including weekends without a day off due to unrealistic schedules and dates. - Employee turn over has to be above 90%. Very few people stay a full year. Burn-out is evident everywhere in the office. Not a happy place to work. - Resourcing is treated like a big game and people log hours to lock-up certain people because the company is too cheap to staff properly. The two weekly resourcing meetings are a complete waste of several hours of work time. - Lack of necessary equipment to complete work. Laptops and desktops that are several years old and do not work properly, insufficient mobile hardware for Production and QA teams and severe push back when software for everyday work is needed. - Expect an initial offer $20K less than your salary at your last place of employment. Push back and try to get more if you must work here.

Pros

If you've worked at more than a few places, you'll recognize that overall this is a very well managed company with great culture. If it's your first job, be ready to work. Staff are hired very carefully, resulting in a bunch of really good people successfully doing their best work together. The company has been extremely fair with me and others; I feel appreciated and frankly wouldn't want to work elsewhere. As an added benefit, the subject matter is really interesting and it's been wonderful learning about the intricate and amazing processes of the body and its systems, down at the molecular and cellular level. More engaging for me than commercials or effects films; it's in some ways like effects work except it's real. I just looked through the mix of reviews and my main thought is, if you find yourself working somewhere and it's not working for you, move along. I've been in animation for over two decades and this is overall the most pleasant and respectful workplace I've experienced in that field. I recommended it to a family member, if that means anything.

Cons

Some might say the company is slow to bring on new staff when needed. Personally I would much rather be with a company that grows cautiously than the more common company that grows too quickly and then dies when work falls a bit, so I actually am glad to see this. Just expect a thorough interviewing process!
