Pros

Small groups of people are great. The building is nice & cafeteria is good. Good parking. Pleasant views from the windows. Pay rate is good.

Cons

The entire authority is run by emotions and intimidation and it starts at the top. The contractors are treated with less respect that you would expect. The FTEs enjoy making life hard for the contractors. EVERYTHING takes 5-6 times longer to accomplish due to indecision, career sabotage and "climbing the ladder" back stabbing. You never know what will upset management until they are walking you to the door. The IT department can randomly kill needed projects because they don't want to deal with the headache even if the company needs the change. Upper management doesn't know enough to call out the IT department. Clearly a little "wage-the-dog" situation. There are good people there. Most keep their heads down to avoid flack. I would only recommend working there as a last resort & for a paycheck while you continue to look. It's a good thing they make a ton of money or they would go broke through waste. I have never been in a building with more stress and anxiety than VHDA.
