Pros
Work with a group of smart, driven team members who are focused on delivering solutions for customers
Opportunity to be in at the ground-floor of offering innovative products in a fast-growing company and market
Cons
Start-up life might not be for everyone
High expectations-if you aren't a performer this isn't for you
As a previous reviewer said if you are expecting a 9-5 don't bother applying (or to any start-up in tech)
Several talented and friendly employees
Got to use cool technology sometimes
Cons
Owner runs the company like a fiefdom
Pay is very far under the industry standard, especially for the expensive area
People are expected to work past end of day as the standard, if you leave on time every day management will regard you as not caring. Meanwhile, if you sit at your desk and watch cartoons for 90 minutes every day when you finish working, you will come across as "dedicated".
Poor management practices mean employees work lots of unpaid overtime, and are sometimes required to come in on weekends out of the blue
Expecting a larger pay increase than you received (sometimes you receive none) is viewed as a taboo topic
Hiring standards are poor; just about anybody can get in here, and sometimes you'll end up "reporting" to a person who has no clue what they're doing, and who makes significantly more than you
"Third floor people" can and have used the front door intercom to listen to employee conversations while they're outside talking or smoking
Company location floods every so often, owner has tied boats to an all-terrain vehicle and has towed people over the water to the building
During power outages in the past employees have been expected to come in with no light/heat
