Pros

- We have a .org that aims to help non profit organization so it feels like your daily work is in part contributing to charity and you are able to feel good about yourself. - Free lunch 3 days a week - Stacked snack bar - Nice office

Cons

- Recent hires + promotion of first time middle managers = bureaucracy galore. For a 15 people engineering team we have 8 middle managers. That is essentially one manager for every 2 person. All it adds up to is more hurdles to getting things done. From what it seems like, none of the middle managers are capable of making decisions so all they are doing is adding an unnecessary layer to day to day decisions that needs to be made to keep things running smoothly and quickly. So now we are a small startup with layers of bureaucracy that mimics a 1000 people organization. - Working with such a small team of engineering, one would think that development could be done faster but all the unnecessary process put in recently, things take longer than they need to, adding overhead and weighs down the team and the product. - Equality? The claim is that we want to be a company that is diverse and inclusive but we look at the engineering team, the last 10 hires were all men, the entire management level are dominated by men. - We are working less and less as a team but more and more divided. Everyone wants to be their own hero and there is no sense of teamwork. - Too much process and policies for everything these days. - Unlimited days off - but it's actually limited in a way because every time you make a request, there will be a negotiation phase of whether or not you can actually take the time off. - No subsidies for gym - the response from the ceo was, "I am sure you can afford $20-$30 a month for gym" but if that's the case then for such a small startup, the company should be able to afford subsidizing $20-$30 a month per employee for their health. Also, Which gym is $30 a month these days?

Pros

Vidado has a very talented leadership team who build trust within the organization and engage and empower others. The Customer Success and Implementation teams, although small in number are always customer focused to deliver and exceed expectations. They have a bias for action and have a "do whatever it takes" mentality to please the customer.

Cons

The AI/ML space is becoming highly competitive and larger companies are starting to commoditize the value of the company's solutions. Vidado needs to lead and innovate in the handwriting recognition space.

Pros

This is a startup that is not only concerned about making a profit. The company values reflects its focus on the social mission, encouraging its employees to think about how we can make the world a better place. The company culture has a special focus on collaboration and transparency, trying to make sure all departments are updated of activity that happens throughout the week. Captricity has also managed to assemble a great team full of smart people who think BIG, tackling the unsolved problems in its field. Bonus for makers/developers: Challenge week is a company wide event that happens every quarter, where you get to propose and work on anything you like, regardless of business priorities. Many projects from challenge week make it into the product, and it encourages innovation across the board leading to new features and ideas.

Cons

Being a startup, expect to wear many hats, and work on many projects, even those that may not be your cup of tea. This is a place where you can't be picky about what you do, as we have too many things to do with very little resources compared to the big corporations.
