Pros

There are still some really fantastic, talented individuals working here. Still good salaries for the area, but this is slipping backwards. Flexible working is common. Share options are still a thing, for now.

Cons

Weak leadership, translates to chaos and confusion. Very telling that "managing ambiguity" was recently added to annual review scoring. Organisational structure is bloated and confused, especially for a sub-1000 headcount company. Job descriptions and responsibilities are kept unclear, several examples of people joining the business but ending up with a very different job to what they applied for. Accountability is low, several examples of people being awarded for things they failed to deliver, even 12+ months on. You need powerful friends to advance your career here, strong performance simply goes unnoticed. Specific training has really tailed off, now it's just a case of sorting yourself out on LinkedIn Learning. HR department seems to be in control of everything except HR.

Thank you for your rating and generally positive comments about our people, salaries, benefits and flexible working. We're sorry to read about your concerns and would ask you, as a current employee, to raise these with your line manager, if you haven't already, or to discuss them in confidence with your HR Partner. That way, we can discuss them in more detail, if you're willing to share specific examples, and we can investigate and take improvement actions, as appropriate. We would like to correct your interpretation of one of our leadership behaviours - 'managing ambiguity' - as this recognises the fact that we live in an ever-changing world and the pace and scale of change these days can mean that we have to make decisions where there is some uncertainty and ambiguity, and then explain those decisions to our teams. This is what we mean by managing ambiguity and we feel it is an essential competency for our leaders to demonstrate. In relation to job clarity, you will know by now, that we have recently rolled out our Global People Framework, with clear role profiles for every job and employee. Our technical competencies provide further detail about expectations, to support personal development and career progression. And each of our job levels has a clearly defined set of core behaviours and leadership competencies aligned to them further. All of these provide greater clarity about expectations and responsibilities/accountabilities. We do hope that you will share specific examples of your concerns with us, so we can improve your experience at Victrex.

Thank you for your really positive feedback and high rating – very much appreciated. It’s great to read that you agree about the good people we have working for us. Thanks for mentioning our products too, which bring about sustainable and transformational solutions across many industries, from aerospace, electronics and medical (to name just a few). We know how proud so many of our colleagues are about the societal and environmental benefits that our products help to bring about. We always strive to offer competitive pay and an excellent range of benefits. We regularly advertise vacancies across all of our different regions in Asia Pacific, Europe, the UK and the US. If you feel there are limited growth opportunities in your own area, please discuss your aspirations with your line manager, to see what support and guidance they can give you, in preparation for any opportunities that may arise. And we’d encourage you to make the most of your own personal development, taking advantage of our business LinkedIn resources, on-the-job learning, and opportunities to get involved in colleague-led activities such as our Employee Resource Groups, helping to improve diversity and inclusion across Victrex. Finally, if you have any specific ideas about improving leadership in your area of the business, or wider, please share these with the appropriate people or with your HR Partner. And whilst you can do this at any time, it’s always a good opportunity to share your thoughts when discussing the results of our Employee Experience Survey, where teams agree and prioritise improvements such as these. Thanks again for your really helpful feedback. We wish you every success with your career at Victrex.

Pros

only one I can think of is the HSA contribution

Cons

Top heavy, micro managers that do not coach or invest in their players. Look at turn over at Invibio last 2 years. Where there is smoke there's a fire!

Thank you for your review, and for sharing your view, particularly in relation to our HSA contributions for the health plan in the USA. It’s disappointing to hear your personal views, which are different to others' experience across Victrex and Invibio. Our highest scoring question in our 2024 Employee Experience Survey was in response to ‘I have a good relationship with my line manager’ at 84%, following an impressive 91% company-wide response rate. We acknowledge that there will be pockets where relationships may be different, and we always look to support line managers to develop their teams, and encourage individuals to seek support from their HR Partner if need be, we sincerely hope you did this whilst employed with us. We signal to all employees the standards we expect through our leadership competencies and core behaviours in place (including ‘continuously improving’). These form part of our regular performance feedback, check-ins and reviews. Finally, in relation to your last point about unconscious bias, we regularly run sessions for employees at every level, specifically targeted at helping people to understand, be aware of, and avoid unconscious bias. We’ve received positive feedback about these events, which we’ll continue to run. We’ve also established several global, employee-led Resource Groups covering race, ethnicity and cultural heritage, gender and disability, to increase allyship and awareness through targeted education and action.
