Pros

) Smart people ) Make efforts to be fair and transparent ) As an introvert I like that the company has no social activities. Social activities go through an approval process after HR team quit twice ) Some people are swamped but many aren’t. You could easily take another job while working at this company if you manage your work well. The high attrition helps

Cons

) Promises to deliver on salary increases and a career plan over the last year have received no serious followthrough. You could be in limbo on a role for years with no guidance on what it takes to get promoted. It is constant talk and no action, and looks like bait and switch ) High attrition at all levels even by today’s standards make it difficult to deliver on a product ) Embarrassing deficiencies in the product ) Many perks promised - big and small - do not exist and haven’t for over a year. Company hasn’t bothered to update ) No career trajectory ) Low stock option grants relative to comps and no real sign that the valuation will increase ) No 401k match ) Company targeting below market comp and currently pays substantially below market ) Weak management team that means well but uses gauche tactics

Pros

- Very healthy work-life balance. No pressure to come in after-hours or on weekends. - Activities foster friendship and engagement. Several times a week there are opportunities to join in activities like sports and cooking classes. The CEO and CTO are as likely to join in as kitchen staff and other employees. It really feels like a family. - The company clearly attracts very smart people. A typical lunch conversation involves philosophical discussions about the nature of human intelligence, the consequences of automation, and genuine interest in each other's projects. - No politics or ego-driven conflicts that I could see. Just a flat hierarchy with self-motivated, mission-driven people. - Management seems to genuinely care about career advancement for employees, even when it means supporting talented people in leaving the company to pursue a PhD at MIT, take a job at Google X, or start their own company. I wouldn't be surprised if Vicarious one day has a legacy like Xerox PARC, PayPal, or Bell Labs owing to the innovators who got their start there.

Cons

No significant cons that I experienced.
