Pros

As a corporate funeral chain, its many locations do a good job at providing continuing education opportunities for its employees. In addition, an employee could, theoretically, advance into the corporate management team or become a full or partial owner of one of the many homes in their region.

Cons

They are large enough that there's a good chance, in the upper-Midwest, that you are applying to one of their firms. The bad news is that they are large enough to have created their own bubble. This means poor base pay and hard to reach, commission based bonuses (if you qualify for them at all) that make for stagnant wages and unpredictable paychecks. Not surprisingly, they also seem to have a hard time filling positions which translates into heavy workloads (even for funeral service standards).

Pros

- Supportive and collaborative culture - Opportunity to learn and grow skills - Demonstrates grace and kindness towards associates - I feel valued and trusted to do my job - Leaders' willingness to listen to thoughts and ideas - Have shared service teams to support various functions, allowing professionals to focus on families and teams within the funeral homes.

Cons

- The funeral industry presents a learning curve, especially for those new to the field. Still, it offers an opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge and skills.
