Pros

Vermont Adult Learning has a culture of personalized learning and putting students' needs first, and sometimes needs to remember to apply that message to staff as well. The leadership team has demonstrated their commitment to positive change by deciding to expand the DEI team and invest in modern technology to make employees' work lives less stressful.

Cons

Change can be tough - lots of changes in the past 4 years post-pandemic but leadership is staying the path and is dedicated to employees' voices being heard and new ideas being brought to the table.

Pros

I've been with VAL for 2.5 years so far and am proud to work with such compassionate and talented people. I feel supported, respected, and entrusted to apply my skills and ideas to the position, programs, and overall organizational infrastructure. Our current Executive Director is a staunch advocate for VAL students, staff, and programming.

Cons

Nothing in particular comes to mind

Pros

It was a great place to work for until recently. Great coworkers, But not worth the emotional toll.

Cons

New CFO is destroying the student centered culture we had. The board members and TB are in collusion to get rid of the people that have worked there the longest. I was there for over 20 years and I had to resign due to the hostile work environment. It hurt to leave because of my students, But the toxicity the CFO has created, has caused anxiety in every staff member throughout VAL. It's not worth the emotional toll leadership imposes on everyone. Look elsewhere. For your own sanity, go somewhere else. Students are the last thing in their minds.
