You can feel trapped and a lot of your days off are not consecutive. You have to stick up for yourself if you want any time off. Communication can be better too.

Free housing and beautiful scenery

The upper management at Vermejo is what pushed me and others like me to unfortunately leave the company. After working at Vermejo seasonal and full time for a number of years, I left in order to protect my professional reputation. As a manager myself, I was continually having to defend my team from retaliation, unprofessionalism and safety concerns. I have personally been in rooms where upper management would speak about employees with profane language behind their back and to their faces. Toward the end of my employment with the company I had to start recording conversations I was apart of in order to prevent my own words from being twisted and used against me. I decided to dedicate the start of my hospitality career at Vermejo after spending 4-years studying the subject in college. I regret prioritizing my growth with this company and encourage anyone passionate about hospitality to seek other opportunities. The current General Manager of Hospitality is a poor example of what it means to be a leader. I had never been written up while working with this company or violated any policies. When I turned in my resignation, my director told me that, "he took my resignation personally". In conclusion: I did not have to pay rent or any expenses while working here and made decent money, but am much happier now paying rent and making less money.
