Pros

Program structure. Team cohesion. Connection with Youth and Families. Making a real impact on struggling Family Systems Schoolhouse leadership itself, ie. 'Frontline'/classroom "players", are top notch in this field and are the true stars

Cons

1. All about money over health and care of clients. Period -- Administration once actually referred to clients as "walking billboards" when pushing for "graduation" because this would get a good reference from high-profile parent/clients. 2. Administration has zero boundaries with staff -- calls on personal cell phones at all hours of night.; demanding 150% from staff at all times. 3. Zero respect or support/debrief following real crisis or trauma situations for staff 4. Host Parents are terribly overburdened by Administration 5. Administration does not care about 'goodness of fit' when placing Youth in Host Parent homes 6. Serious lack of proper training and resources for Host Parents and Staff alike 7. Administration constantly pushes staff to work on keeping Youth in program longer than necessary -- even at cost of well-being or developmental goals and against clinical advice!

Pros

NOTE: This is the Venture Academy Located by the U of M in Minnepolis, MN *Admin works with and trusts the professional, licensed teachers to do their job correctly. *Staff is supportive and really cares for the students. No one is there just because they couldn't find somewhere better, they want to be there. *Admin wants to hear feedback and make the school better. *This isn't one of those schools that are just trying to get heads in the door so they can get paid for them, they want to make sure a student is actually a good fit and will thrive at Venture.

Cons

*Need more teacher training and observations with feedback to help teachers get better in their craft. *Behavior is a bit out of control sometimes and there is no "No-phone" policy so teachers don't have the support they need to eliminate inappropriate tech use. *Behavior teem doesn't do their job, there is rarely follow-up with teachers about behavior incidents. Kids want to go to the detention room because the behavior team gives them pizza and candy and kids can use their phones.
