Pros

The pay sounded good and I like that it was going to be paid monthly for an approximate number of hours. But I never got paid so that's all null and void.

Cons

An unprofessional, unorganized, cheating company with cold uncaring women who run it. After a month and a half of sporadic communication from a company who was looking for a Social Media Manager to start "as soon as possible," I was hired as an independent contractor with NO CONTRACT. It turns out they gave the wonderful social media company who was working for them for years hardly any warning before dropping them and giving me one day with them to transition. They expected me to know what to do with zero direction after only two group calls and making me wait days between email responses. Finally, after one rescheduled call (they both made me wait 30 minutes before telling me one of them had "no reception"), they told me to create a calendar with ideas, which is not part of my job description, for the next 2 weeks of social media posts. I worked that Friday and Saturday to analyze 4 years of their public content (they wouldn't give me access to their content folders, documents, or Slack channel) and all of their competitors and came up with FIVE weeks of content just to show that I am fully capable of doing this job no matter what. It's worth noting the other social media team created a whole month of content for them, too, before they got the axe with no good warning and weren't paid for their work (as long as Veestro doesn't 'see' it, they don't have to pay for it right??). The next day on Sunday I received an email from them telling me they are no longer in need of my contractor services. No payment for anything, not even for the many hours of work I put it in just the days before to give them all that they asked for and more. No further responses to my reply informing them of the work I had done for them. What a sad excuse for a plant-based company. No morals and such a stressful hiccup in my life. Don't make the same mistake I did – Always sign a contract and keep in mind, most companies like Veestro just want to hire you as an "independent contractor" so they don't have to give you proper benefits like PTO and they can let you go without warning or severance pay.
