Pros

Meet celebrities - you can meet people coming in for the podcast Some cool coworkers - especially if you're into politics Not going anywhere - the company will be around, the brand is growing despite the negatives of actually working there.

Cons

I would highly recommend staying away from this place. If you follow the content and are interested because of that, consider that everyone else writing reviews joined for that same reason, many moving across the country to work at VT, and despite that, it has the highest turnover of any company I’ve heard of. Vibe: feels like an Indian call center more than an innovative startup, seriously Turnover: HIGH - average tenure is about 3 months even in creative and leadership positions (CFO, CMO, etc.), people disappear frequently with no notice Leadership: complete absence of good leaders which is really what holds this place back, there are no leaders here I would want to work for Culture: hard work, no appreciation, employees are expendable, no collaboration, high stress, low pay, no trust There is a big difference between what Pat says about running a company and how he runs his own company. I was shocked when I read his book because it is the complete opposite of what happens at VT. Like everyone, I joined because I like the content and stayed hoping they could turn the culture around but after a year I saw no progress. Seriously, stay away from this place, or join if you have a good backup plan in place once you see how crazy it is.

Pros

You learn a lot and are put in an uncomfortable environment but in the best way. It unlocks so much growth

Cons

There is a lot of pressure at times but if you structure and organize yourself accordingly it gets easier.

Pros

You will be working on “big ideas”

Cons

First and foremost this is a sales organization. Everything is sales - including your day to day. You have to dress a certain way, look like you’re working at all times (which means being at your desk at all times) and always espouse the company propaganda. The amount of gossip, spying and paranoia at this company is unprecedented. Whether or not you are good at your job, have any idea what you’re talking about or have deep industry experience is irrelevant. It’s all about appearances here. Any questioning of authority or direction results in you “not believing” and being shut out. It literally is a corporate cult. When you interview ask them what their one year turnover rate it is. IF they tell you, remember they truly believe all of those people “didn’t have what it takes” and the organization can do no wrong because they are brilliant.
