Great Philosophies, Culture and Community - Operations Valor Education Employee Review

Pros

Strong alignment of values across staff, families, and leadership — with a shared commitment to character development, human connection, and the pursuit of higher truth. Supportive, mission-driven community that genuinely cares about shaping the next generation for the better. Teachers receive half of the summer off

Cons

Limited involvement and support from the corporate-level network often left our campus team to navigate high-pressure day-to-day operational challenges on our own. Campus leadership, including the Headmaster, frequently felt unheard or disconnected from network decision-makers. Low salary budgets made it difficult to attract and retain adequate staff, placing additional strain on existing team members often feeling burnt out covering many duties which their job does not require. While the recent campus relocation improved enrollment numbers, chronic underfunding remains a well-known challenge across the San Antonio charter school landscape.

Pros

Great curriculum, supportive families, good teachers. Valor strives to create community and friendships among its teachers.

Cons

School grew much and so rapidly that it is still digesting the growth. Classrooms are quite full. Like many charter schools, pay is below average.
