Pros

Above average pay and people who are genuinely trying to do their best under impossible conditions.

Cons

It's hard to imagine that a company could be as toxic as what the other reviewers have written, but sadly it's true. I would like to break this down into three categories: Leadership and Culture issues and Product issues. Leadership issues I have worked at numerous places throughout my career, and I can easily say that the leadership at VGS is the most toxic I have had the displeasure of working under. As others have pointed out, they argue about important strategic company decisions in PUBLIC slack channels for everyone to see and berate people openly. There is absolutely no alignment on the leadership team and the execs make sure to talk about it to everyone they know. Sadly, I think that most of these leaders are just a product of their environment as it all flows down from the top. The CEO is by far the worst "leader" i've seen. Openly talking bad about the rest of his leadership team, calling people out publicly, extremely demeaning and arrogant attitude, and leads by instilling fear in those around him. The team is in full survival mode so it's no wonder that the output is completely subpar. I am legitimately amazed that the board has not fired the CEO as it is clear that he is tanking the company. Product Issues VGS has incredibly smart people and products that could have done really well in the market, but unfortunately the complete lack of strategic alignment and vision have made it so that even the best ideas fail. Leadership is constantly changing the product vision and then acting is if it's what has been communicated the entire time. There is no accountability and no clear direction given to the team. People have no clue what to work on most of the time, or if they do, they are completely unmotivated to do the work because they know that it will all change within a few weeks. It's sad really to see the skills of competent people being wasted because of poor leadership. All in all I think VGS is too far gone at this point. It would need completely new leadership and a new team to bring it back to life (essentially a new company). I think it has been a great place for some people to make a lot of money, update their resume with a fancy new title, coast for a few months, and then move on to greener pastures. I have never given such a negative review, but it needed to be said. I hope members of the board are reading these reviews and take the necessary steps to correct before losing anymore of their money.

Pros

- Strong company vision for short and long term future - Decisive and experienced leadership team - If you work hard, fail forward, and adapt to the changing payments landscape you will be successful at VGS (in any role). - Autonomous work structure, no overbearing managers - Promote from within mentality, and lots of room to shine for high performers - Performance over politics - Horizontal Career mobility opportunities (EX: not interested in sales anymore, more so account management) - Fight for each other culture, everyone clearly has each others back and will support one another even if outside their job responsibilities - Best in class product trusted by the largest brands - Great benefits across medical, dental, vision, 401K match, etc - Equity for employees

Cons

- High expectations as a lean company - Hybrid near offices recommended. - "get you work done" versus 9 to 5 (could be a con to some people) - Learning curve for both payments and security that will require lean in from the employee to become well-versed.
