Pros

It's difficult to find engineering firms where merits and abilities speak louder than internal political associations. During my time with VA, I have seen interns advance to management and respected on equal terms with engineers that love to focus their abilities on analysis and design. Doors are always open and collective solutions to engineering problems are the norm. All of VA’s successes are shared by all those in the firm, and VA also recognizes that disappointments are usually not the fault of any single individual.

Cons

The challenges associated with working for VA are typical of the real world. VA is a business and those that contribute to VA’s success by means of client satisfaction and/or technical excellence will be rewarded across all levels of experience. You either sink or swim and for some, that environment may be difficult to accept.

Pros

Lots of variety. Nice co workers. Good benefits. Nice company functions. Employers are never rude so there is an overall smooth environment. You do your job - all is well.

Cons

Obvious glass ceiling for all of the women in the company. Too bad, it is truly doing them a disservice.
