Pros

Great benefits and competitive pay. The work is enjoyable and not extremely fast-paced. You need to work accurately rather than fast. Excellent mentorship and advancement opportunities within the maintenance ranks.

Cons

Sometimes the work is done outside in extreme winter conditions. For example: repairing an air brake line under a vehicle at the top of a Utah ski resort at night during a blizzard. It is very difficult to move into management. This IS a union controlled environment within a right to work state. Not joining the union can cause friction between maintenance employees.

Utah Transit Authority Response

Thanks for your service to UTA and our customers. You are correct, our benefits are among the very best along the Wasatch Front and our pay is competitive. Your acknowledgement of our advancement opportunities is also timely, as we are always looking for ways to promote from within. UTA partners with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 382 to get the job done and is always looking for ways to cooperate and lessen any friction.

Cons

The same as most jobs, but nothing worth mentioning specifically.

Pros

Management is mostly fair. Standard bus driving job. Good training with free CDL class B. Paid during training.

Cons

Salt Lake COL is expensive. Pay does not match cost of living.
