Pros

The people at Urbint are generally very nice and easy to get along with. Everyone is respectful and the few hires that tend to be too abrasive are let go. The benefits are good, but pretty much the standard for a tech company. The company being fully remote indefinitely is great, but they are also opening up an optional office in New York. You can relocate anywhere within your country without a salary adjustment.

Cons

Urbint has a bad habit of constantly cycling through C-suite execs in a bid to fix its systemic issues through bringing in outside talent. Meanwhile, individual contributors regularly leave of their own accord due to burnout. These both exacerbate a lack of direction, organization, and cohesion that is pervasive in both the company and its product. Employee reviews are infrequent and mishandled, while compensation increase questions are consistent in Q&As. The only apparent way to get your pay adjusted is to change roles in an "official" capacity, yet there is no clear path to do so. Regardless, many employees find their roles being changed with the company's revolving initiatives and regular re-orgs, but without any pay adjustments. Some other issues include: frequent firefighting, constant rushing to meet deadlines, ceaseless unaddressed tech-debt, a lack of product direction, never sunsetting legacy systems, over-committing to customers, and a lack of many things you would expect out of a startup such as scalability, metrics, transparency, and individual accountability.

Urbint Response

Thanks for your feedback on Urbint’s employee benefits and remote working policy. I also hear your concerns around managing workloads and priorities. It’s really important for everyone to have a clear understanding of priorities and direction. A major initiative for the beginning of the year has been to clearly communicate our annual plan, so we can all be on the same page. Reviews are completed every 6 months to help employees understand their roles, compensation, and growth opportunities. That said, the People team is here to offer support to all employees who may have questions or concerns — or feel free to reach out to me directly if you feel comfortable doing so.
