Pros

They have a lot of work, and that’s about it. You can fill your schedule up when there is nothing else.

Cons

This company is lowering the standards of the industry on every front and it’s run by a bunch of criminals. They pay less. They train less. They’re respectless. Showed up to a gig over an hour away. The gig starts, the leads don’t show up. Their policy says they should be paying me for a 4 hour mini. David R, the scheduler tells me they’ll tack on an hour for the next gig, which he never did but good to know they’re willing to defraud their clients. They will just screw you over for work, and there is tons of stories in the industry of them doing so. They fundamentally lack integrity. A lead had me stay an extra hour on a gig. The steward looks me sqaure in the eye after I ask him if I’m getting paid 5 hours and says yes. Paycheck comes it’s for 4 hours. They just lie to you. They talk to you like dogs as well, barking at you, and they have a rigging class once a year but other than there is no real opportunity to learn anything here— save turning a c wrench. The pay is dog water for this industry, and that’s another way they’re lowering the standards. They have so much work because they’re the only scumbags willing to pay so little that they can make their bids on contracts so low. Other companies actually h have a sense of integrity and therefore won’t stoop to paying workers so little. Don’t waste your time and energy on these scumbags. They need to go out of business, and some of them need to go back to prison where they belong. The other staging companies in Austin will pay you better and treat you like a professional, not like a prison yard.

Pros

It’s a cool job with fun perks of seeing behind the scenes. Keeps you busy and active. You can start green and learn a lot of new skills along the way but you have to want it as there’s too much going on for anyone to be worried about you specifically.

Cons

Didn’t see much room for growth. No benefits.
