Pros
A great place for gifted entry level employees and self starters. Casual work environment, friendly, passionate employees, great space. Many opportunities to connect with peers in common areas of the office and through fun activities the organization puts on from time to time. Great mission and vision. some employees seem to represent the culture and values of UCSC very well. Great HR director. Small non-profit
Cons
Low pay, minimal training, excessive meetings/check ins. Nepotism. Minimal cross collaboration. While executives are talented and knowledgeable, interactions with their own staff appear strained and lack authenticity. Over all, the bar seems to be set higher for lower level employees to perform at mastery levels and communicate effectively and professionally than it is for said top paid execs. Less diverse as the organization lost some of the heart of the org when they parted ways with their Real Estate portion. DEI efforts are performative at best. There is an undercurrent of fear and confusion amongst staff members.
